Editorial Review: In 2081, Washington, DC is one of the most violent cities in the world, despite an age of unprecedented, worldwide political peace. Dealing with this excess is the Violent Crimes Division of the 31st Precinct, located in the heart of the city. One of the few telepaths in law-enforcement, Detective Rebecca Curtains was recruited by the VC Captain and signed on with very little persuasion. Despite her exceptional record, the other detectives view her with suspicion and she struggles to keep a balance in the face of their hostility. Detective Genie Marshall has seen some of the worst that life has to offer and keeps coming back for more. Driven by a dark past and a need to set things right, she gives no quarter and expects none from those she brings to justice. Partnered together, the two women quickly become embroiled with a killer who stays a step ahead and uses Becky's psychic abilities against her. Can the two women form a true bond to protect one another before the serial killer destroys Becky's very sanity?

Rating: - Loved this book...
First of all, I loved this book. I have to admit that at first I thought the description was a little sketchy. But as the story unfolded and Genie and Becca's relationship became a deep bond I instantly fell in love with that bond.
I have to agree that, yes, the romance should have come more quickly and perhaps there should have been more of it. But it was pretty clear throughout the book that despite their bond they both had separate lives and were reluctant to close the gap from partners ... Read More
Rating: - Good story, poor editing, no "umph."
The story could have been so much better! Great idea but execution lacked any umph or excitement. The word "demanded" was so overused in describing the characters questions to each other. Last time I checked, when you were happy to see someone you don't, "How are you?" X character demanded. Maybe, "How are you?" X character exclaimed, happily inquired, etc. And after a pyschic backlash and the two women connect on such a deep level, the last thing they would do is go home alone! If Genie was so 'protective' ... Read More
Rating: - Spooky!
This was a unique approach to law enforcement novel. This book combine, action, romance, sci-fi, and thriller all in one.
The most intriguing part was the Becca's connection with the killers or perpetrators of the crime. The coming back from the trance was very scary.
This book will allow your mind to go places it's never gone before.
Rating: - 28 yrs in 2 months?
Guess you could call this a sci-fi, romance, murder mystery set in 2081(however, later in the book it is said to be 2107.)
Now, in 2081 (or 2107), why would anyone be driving a Jeep. One of our heroes does just that. Would you even think the a Jeep still exists 100 years into the future? As for the story, rogue cop and psychic cop thrown together because no other cop can/will work with either. Becky, the psychic, has horrible "backlashes". She descends into the darkness of the villain's mind and only the touch ... Read More
Rating: - Good mystery, but not science fiction
The year is 2081 and, for an unexplained reason, some humans have suddenly begun to show an extraordinary degree of psychic ability. Because they possess a characteristic that most people do not have, those who don't understand them persecute the psychically gifted and there is a growing movement in the US to isolate them in detainment camps. One of the most powerfully gifted, Rebecca Curtains, has joined the police force in Washington, DC, to use her telepathic ability to solve cases and to show that other people have ... Read More
