Gastroesophageal reflux disease—a digestive condition characterized by a surplus of gastric acid that backs up into the esophagus and damages fragile tissues—causes burning pain, nausea, and vomiting for millions of people each day. Now, in Eating for Acid Reflux, authors and fellow acid reflux sufferers Jill Sklar and Annabel Cohen offer an invaluable resource for all those seeking relief from acid reflux symptoms. Split into two user-friendly sections, Eating for Acid Reflux first provides essential information on the nature of the condition, mainstream and alternative therapies, essential lifestyle modifications, personal stories from others with the condition, and much more. The next section offers over 100 healthy, tasty, low-fat, low-acid recipes, ranging from American culinary favorites to exotic Thai, Mexican, and Italian dishes, and suggests simple substitutes for seemingly forbidden foods such as desserts and salad dressing. Complete with an extensive resource section, Eating for Acid Reflux is perfect for everyone newly diagnosed with acid reflux as well as for those who have struggled with the condition for years and are seeking new tips and diet ideas.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Eating for acid reflux: A Handbook and cookbook for those with hearthburn
Very helpful in understanding what acid reflux is and what I was able to eat

Rating: out of 5 stars - GERD sufferers unite!
This book has good information and decent menu ideas. Not too much that I didn't already know.
Recommended to GERD sufferers.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Eating for Acid Reflux
Good information on acid reflux. Many of the recipes had ingredients that people with acid reflux can't use....like tomato paste with (as tolerated) in the recipe. I found only six recipes for my family.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Excellent!
I love this book, it gives you everything you need to know about GERD, and the food in the cookbook is delicious!! I reccomend this book to all GERD suffers out there!!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Disappointing recipe section
Excellent background information on the disease. One of the most complete descriptions and reasons why certain foods cause problems. However, I was very disappointed with the recipe section. I was expecting recipes for dishes that did not include foods that can cause heartburn. Instead, there were very common recipes, many containing several ingredients that GERD suffers should avoid, with instructions such as "if you have problems with onions, leave it out..." How helpful is that, really!?
