Rating: - Great for textures, and zBrush work
I'm a student at the AI right now and do a lot of texture work in Photoshop for my 3d models, and started using the wacom for zBrush 3(a 3d modeling/painting tool) just recently.
My first few hiccups made me a little weary. I plugged in the tablet after installing the drivers and the pressure tip didn't work, and neither did the eraser tip(worked like any other mouse pointer). I called up Wacom tech support and after a very short hold got in touch with a man who sounded like one of my LANing buddies. He was very laid back and after explaining the problem troubleshot it and had me up and running very quickly. By far the best customer service I have ever dealt with(and I give tech support myself!)
So for the tablet itself, I've used a variety of sizes, from the smallest, to their largest and I have to say the 6x8 is perfect for me. It easily fits into a backpack or briefcase with little problem, and the top buttons are vastly more efficient to the side buttons on other versions(which you constantly hit by accident).
It's just a very great product. I have no negative things to say about it.
Rating: - A Tool Can Change Your Life
I've had this for months now, and I use it every single day. It completely changed my life as an artist. I now work almost exclusively in Photoshop and love it! It's a little bit like how I thought an Etch-a-Sketch should be when I was a kid. Seriously, though, there's a world of difference between trying to use a graphics program with a mouse and the tablet, even for non-drawing tools.
And it's not just for art. The tablet makes surfing the web much faster as well because you can move the pen across the tablet as you would your finger across the monitor, then tap instead of click. It's much more intuitive that way.
This thing really did change my life. As much as the advent of the Internet did. I was creatively blocked for years and now I draw every day.
Rating: - Wonderful! What an upgrade in Art!
This product is amazing. I upgraded from the 4x5 to this 6x8 and I'm amazed at the difference. I'm finding myself enjoying it so much. My art has improved so much since I have been able to use the Tablet in Photoshop.
This product allows you to draw pretty much like you would on a piece of paper. It does take some time to adjust to, but once you have it's well worth it. I am watching as my skill increases every week.
Unlike older tablets, you can use pen pressure, as well as the two buttons on the pen for right click and double click... you can pretty much set it to what you want. There is an eraser end as well. I love this Tablet!
Rating: - Essential
I would have a real rough time doing what I need to do (illustrate, animate) with just a mouse. It works great, I can't think of how it could work better. I considered the larger size, but that would require a lot more arm-moving...and I'm too darn lazy for that.
Rating: - Lives up to its name
I purchased this based on researching the leading tablets. This tablet consistently received the highest ratings and praise. Amazons price was also the best I found. Purchased this for my son who has varified its claim to fame. Graphire still lives up to its reputation.
