Rating: - This book is worth every penny.
At age 54 I recently began doing yoga for the first time in my life. I have always exercised, but yoga is completely different for me. I purchased a few DVD's which did not really explain in great detail important details for a beginning student, nor show how to adapt the poses for a beginner's body (especially a middle aged person.) I found this book through my local library, and after reading it, came to Amazon and bought it. I love this book because 1) it explains ayurvedic principles clearly with great insight, 2)it shows the various poses in great detail, and 3) best of all, it explains how exactly to protect your body from injury by modifying the various poses a beginner may not be able to do. I have been frustrated in yoga class and with DVD's when some of the poses done by the instructors hurt and I don't know the way to modify them so they don't. This book takes care of that! It is an invaluable resource for those who truly want a better understanding and want to keep doing yoga without injuring themselves in the process.
Rating: - Yoga for Your Type
"Yoga for your type" is absolutely excellent. I am a lay person that has attempted to live by Ayurvedic standards for many years. I have certain doshic imbalances that I have been treating for some time and this book has provided so much insight. I have many Yoga books, but this book clearly demonstrates how to reduce doshas from the body. It is concise and clearly written and will be treasured. Thank you David Frawley and Sandra Summerfield Kozak. K Sinclair
Rating: - Ayurveda rocks!
Great book - David Frawley is one of the foremost authorities in the United States and he explains everything
very well. For some people it's hard to learn yoga from a book. If you'd like a DVD about Yoga and Ayurveda, try "Dosha Yoga" with Hemalayaa.
There are 3 different 20 minutes routines, one for each dosha, and an introduction about Ayurveda. It's my DVD, so
I may be a little biased, but it really is good! :-)
Rating: - True healing power of yoga
This is a great book explaining the true aspects of yoga in their healing capacity. I use the programs outlined in the book for many of my clients.
Rating: - One of the best yoga books out there...
I had the pleasure of doing a weekend workshop with Ms. Kozak a few years ago after reading this book. I find myself constantly referring to it when I have questions about the doshas or the poses in general. You will not be disappointed in this book.
