Rating: - Enchanting Journey into Stone Magick for Beginners of Crystal Divination
I avoided and ignored this book for a long time. The general responses said about,'Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal,Gem & Metal Magick',placed it as being weak on depth, scope and purpose.I found the book to be quite charming, regardless of the popular opinion downplaying the book's material.Contrary to most,i can only recommend this work as one of the author's best. His personal insightful experience with 'Stone Magick' is pleasant, unique and charming to read about. This book can be used as a basic heuristic method for establishing or furthering your own stone divination technique.
Rating: - Not extensively thorough, but is still a good reference.
As other reviewers have noted, it is not an extensively thorough encyclopedia of crystals, gems and metals, but still has a decent amount of information. I'm a big fan of Scott Cunningham which is what prompted me to buy this, but I was a little disappointed that it didn't have more information in it. But if you're looking for a general reference guide (including pictures) for crystals, gems and metals, then this is a good choice.
Rating: - Every wiccan should have this!
Well organized sourcebook for almost all of your stones and metals in magickal uses. arranged alphabetically for easy look up.
Rating: - Pretty good, but not the best
I'd like to start by mentioning that my mother thinks this is a right spiffy volume. She likes it for the the background information given on folk magic applications of stones and metals - just little tidbits to feed your craving for mostly useless trivia. This book is a nice resource for that sort of thing, but to be honest, that's about all it's good for. The applications are impractical, the associations questionable, and in usual Scott Cunningham style, he uses personal experience to express things as if he is an authority on the matter... a subject very much up for debate.
The latest edition is an improvement over older ones, though. The pictures are much more clear. Still, there aren't enough pictures to make this book useful for purposes of identification. A much better book for that would be "The Crystal Bible" by Judy Hall.
Rating: - Great Reference Material
This is one of the best reference books on Crystals and Gems. Anyone interested in learning more about Crystal/Gems and Healing along with the magickal properities, this would be the book to buy! Great Reference Book by a Great Author! Highly recommend this!!!!
