Customer Reviews
Rating: out of 5 stars - very helpful
I found this book very helpful. I used it often at work. The one thing I wished is that it wouldn't constantly refer to future parts of the book. I also wish it had more pictures. However overall it is a great resource.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Great Resources for Nurses
This book is very concise and thorough enough for nurses. It is written in a bullet style format and is full of practical information for caring for newborns. It does discuss deviations from normal, but if you are looking for in-depth coverage of diseases and disorders of the newborn you will need another text. There are lots of pictures to help illustrate findings or assessments. There is also a brief discussion of the transition from fetal to neonatal physiology.

I'd recommend this to nurses in maternity care settings, or student nurses who need a more concise text on the newborn.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Graphic Images
I haven't read the whole book yet, but my first impression was shock! The book starts out with a section of color plates of various conditions a newborn might have. They are quite graphic and I don't understand why, if it is the Assessment and Care of the WELL NEWBORN, they needed to start the book with those images- they could have been tucked away in the back....

Rating: out of 5 stars - Excellent assessment book!
Clear and concise. Well-written and very readable. A great book for anyone wanting to improve their assessment skills of the well neonate.

Rating: out of 5 stars - An excellent starting point
An excellent summary of well-newborn care provided in outline form for efficient reading. The information is comprehensive, but concise. An excellent starting point for nurses new to the care of newborns. Includes information on how to identify the sick newborn without going into much detail, which makes this book a good preface to AWHONN's Core Curriculum for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.
