Rating: - Life After Death, a Provacative Book
As a long-time fan of the author, Deepak Chopra, I expected a lot and I was not disappointed. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a provacative resource to help them consider what comes next. I must admit, that originally I checked this book out of the library - after reading 20 pages I realized that this was one book that I had to have on my night stand - one reading would not be enough. Great book.
Rating: - save your money
I like the man, but this book is just plain dumb. I have tons of study on this subject, and this is a waste of time/money
Rating: - Good Read
For me, it was very confusing. I need things simpler. But if you like Deepak, go for it.
Rating: - Fascinating account of what happens after death
From the perspective of soul's eternity our life lasts as does a bubble for only a period, yet the journey as Chopra eloquently expresses does not end with the extinguishing of our physical body rather we open up to the after-life.
"Life After Death" draws from many traditions, especially from Vedantic philosophy which Chopra has made accessible for Western readers. He also uses the mythic account of Savitri, a lone daughter of a king who searches for a perfect husband. When she find him he is prophesied to die an early death. When Yama, the angel of death, comes to take his soul, her love even conquers death.
Chopra offers proof through near death experiences for the afterlife that needs to be considered and his writing provides confidence to people who fear death. This book makes the afterlife a rational topic for understanding before we die.
I suggest that anyone interested in finding out about the afterlife get a copy of this book. Also consider "NEXUS: A Neo Novel" for its spiritual depth and the poem "Savitri" by Aurobindo available in Pocketbook edition by Lotus Press.
Rating: - What's missing?
It was wonderful to read a book that claimed the answers, but something was missing. I expected a stronger position on life after death.
