Editorial Review: Ring of Fire, the ingenious Broadway production written around 38 of Johnny Cash's most famous songs, celebrates the essence of an American experience. These iconic songs tell stories about a hard life lived in the heartland, about love of partner, family, home, land and God. Featuring Country Boy, Five Feet High and Rising, Daddy Sang Bass, Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line, I've Been Everywhere, The Man in Black, and his final hit, Hurt plus many more, Ring of Fire: The Johnny Cash Musical Show celebrates the lives and stories Cash sang about in his songs.

Rating: - Why Not Listen to Johnny Cash?
These are great songs, no question. I took my family to see this show on Broadway. I was disappointed, both because the play had no real story -- it was simply a string of mini music videos -- and because the arrangements of the tunes were Hee-Haw hokey.
Too bad, because the singers are players are very talented. But in the end, why listen to watered-down Cash when you can have the real thing?
Rating: - Good cast
I've been waiting for the cast album of "Ring of Fire" to come out for months. The singing and musicianship of this cast was amazing on Broadway, and I'm glad to get to hear it in my car whenever I want. The cast took Johnny Cash's songs and put their own experiences and voices into them. Highly recommended.
Rating: - A superb compilation musical
This must surely rank as one of the very best compilation musicals for many a long year. The Richard Maltby Jr.'s realisation is a joy to listen to; the performers are a joy to listen to and, of course, the music made famous by the Man in Black himself is a joy to listen to. I believe it is a benchmark against which other compilation musicals can be judged - up there with "Jersey Boys" for sheer enjoyment.
