I have to say that I was amazed by the performance of this Western Digital drive. They seem to have come a long long way in the last 12 years. Yes my only experience with WD was 12 years ago and I had been a fan of Conner/Seagate for the last 12 years. This drive is quieter and has better I/O capabilities than the 100GB 7200rpm PATA Seagate Momentus that it replaced. I bought this drive one week ago, and the transition to my notebook was almost seamless. My 100 gig drive that came with my Dell Inspiron 6000 was full of files and photos and I wasn't able to run programs because of a lack of disk space. This drive provided 150 gigs of future space. Perhaps it will outlast the rest of my notebook's life. The drive is quiet and works well. What more could you ask for?

I purchase this as an upgrade for my Laptop.
I placed it in a harddrive enclosure and cloned my old drive to it using Acronis True Image (definately worth the price). I then installed it in my Laptop, replacing the old drive, turned on the laptop and Voila! the system booted perfectly.
It is running perfectly. If it wasn't for the increased harddrive space I would not be able to tell I did anything to the laptop.
