It's powered by Intel's newest processor--the Viiv-enabled 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600--which delivers four complete execution cores within a single processor for unprecedented performance and responsiveness in multi-threaded and multi-tasking business/home environments. You can also go wireless and clutter-free with wireless keyboard, mouse, and remote control, and it includes a built-in wireless antenna for 54g Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g).
You can watch, record, and pause live TV programming as well as schedule the PC to record upcoming episodes or entire series. The built-in TV tuner (providing both standard NTSC and high-def ATSC transmission) and personal video recorder (PVR) let you watch, pause, rewind, and record live television--up to 395 hours on the dual 320 GB hard drives (for 640 GB of total built-in storage). An online Electronic Program Guide (EPG) lets you review the TV schedule and select individual episodes or entire series, so you can watch your favorite shows on your own time, at your own convenience. The Basics
- Processor: With four execution cores, the 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 blows through processor-intensive tasks in demanding multitasking environments and makes the most of highly threaded applications. Whether you're creating multimedia, annihilating your gaming enemies, or running compute-intensive applications at one time, new quad-core processing will change the way you do everything. The Q6600 has a top-of-the-class 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and dual 4 MB L2 caches (for a whopping huge 8 MB shared L2 cache). (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
With four complete execution cores in a single processor, you get four dedicated, physical threads help operating systems and applications deliver additional performance that enhance multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance across many types of applications and work loads. The Smart Memory Access feature improves system performance by hiding memory latency, thus optimizing the use of available computer data bandwidth to provide data to the processor when and where it is needed. The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature effectively doubles the execution speed for instructions used widely in multimedia and graphics applications. And with the Intel 64 Architecture, the processor can access larger amounts of memory. This processor also includes Intel's Viiv technology, which allows you to quickly turn the PC on and off (after initial boot) with a touch of the included remote thanks to Intel's Quick Resume function. - Hard Drive: The incredibly huge 640 GB capacity from the dual 320 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space--enough for storing up to 395 hours of television programming, a vast multimedia collection, or for editing digital video. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.
- Memory: The 3 GB of installed RAM (PC5300, 2 x 1 GB, 2 x 512 MB) is a good start, but you'll want to add more RAM to handle today's demanding multimedia and gaming software. It also offers a top-of-class 667 MHz speed. This desktop has an enormous 8 GB maximum RAM capacity (4 x 2 GB). To receive the faster data transfer benefits of the dual-channel DDR2 RAM, any RAM additions require memory modules of same capacity and clockspeed.

I've read all these responses on M9080N and will it do RAID... the simple answer is yes it will. Here's how.
CAUTION: This will destroy all of your data!!
1. Create system recovery DVDs from Start Menu > Programs > PC Help & Tools > Recovery Disc Creation (you can only do this once per system)
2. Go into the BIOS, find disk settings. HP ship this machine in IDE config, There are 2 more choices there AHCI and RAID. Choose RAID, save and reboot.

Rating: - Same computer as the HP m9150f?
I'm confused as to what the difference is to this HP model, compared to the m9150f. They both have practically identical specifications except for the hard drive space(m9040n=640gb, m9150f=720gb) and the m9150f carries a HD-DVD player, and somehow the m9040n is priced substantially higher. I might have overlooked something when comparing the specs but I can't find the difference. Does anyone know?

For a computer not being built by yourself this is a great computer. I added a LG Blu-ray/HD Writer for $300 and It is now a real TV computer. HP has built a good one here,Rates a 5.6 on Vista scale. And Vista is doing it's job, When It came out there was some issues, SP1 is out and Vista Ultimate is very Good !! I also love Media Center with the Built in HD Tuner, It records Flawlessly in HD and has a great picture. I highly recomend this computer.
