The bestselling author of Diet for a Small Planet and Hope's Edge shows how to overcome the restrictions of fear to create personal change in your life and social change in the world. More than thirty years ago, Diet for a Small Planet captured the imagination of millions of readers. Three decades later that book-and its sequel, Hope's Edge-remain popular for one reason: They help people make a personal connection with big-world solutions. Today, millions of Americans are becoming aware of the disconnect between their own values and the direction of our world. Many people ask, "If I'm disturbed by the state of my society, and if my life doesn't feel connected to meaningful answers, why I am I not doing something about it? How can I get unstuck?" You Have the Power offers powerful tools for releasing us. It recognizes that when we begin to face these questions, we meet fear. But it is our personal choices in the face of fear that make the difference. The desired revolution bringing forth the world we want depends on us: on how we relate to fear, in ourselves and in the world around us. You Have the Power offers seven liberating thoughts about fear. Freeing us from fear's choking energy, these new thoughts allow us to fulfill our heart's desire-to be heroes to ourselves so we can shape the humane world we would like.

Rating: out of 5 stars - So Proud!!
I am so proud of this book. I was excited to read it when it was first published and just recently ordered additional copies. My wonderful, creative son just happens to be Jeffrey Perkins, one of the authors. I speak to groups as a PFLAG NH Mom and I use many quotes from this book concerning Jeff's accounts of growing up in Plymouth, NH on a farm and the discrimination he felt in school which he never shared with us at that time.
We are so proud of Jeff and look forward to his next book.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Specific help for specific people
This book came to me at a time in my life when I was trapped by the fear of making a major life change. Reading the stories and thinking about fear from their perspective helped me to overcome my paralization and sit with my fear in comfort. Reading this book helped me move foward, taking a journey in life I never dreamed I could take. My life is now forever changed as a result of this journey. I say, read whatever can help you with your own unique and individual struggle- as each person's life and ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Good - but a little disappointing
This book is filled with good examples from the two authors' personal lives of courageous choices they have made and the outcomes of those choices. However, I was somewhat disappointed in the book. It somehow feels rushed and seems to lack depth.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Admit to a 'Culture of Fear' before you can fix anything........
All you bright avid readers out there, who are complaining about the state of affairs in this country, you have the courage to do that behind closed doors, of course ! Have you read this book ?! I see no reader's review for it until 2006 ! But go beyond reading it, petition it to the US Senate to issue a bill where this book would become part of the curriculum in the 21st century. Not in those so-called universities or failing high schools ! But in the pre-K and/or nursery schools - before scared parents ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Take back America from the rightwing dictators
If you're sick and tired of feeling powerless thanks to Big Government now controlled by Bush, Rove, Delay, and the other rightwing neocons as well as BIG BAD BUSINESS such as the Enrons and Halliburtons along with the rest of Wall Street and the corporate media, this book is for you. It seems that the previous reviewer Hal Brown wants you to just give in to rightwing fascism and not think. I bought this book and after sharing it with my neighbors and friends, we're ready to stand up and fight for true freedom ... Read More
