Editorial Review: Bowling for Columbine did it to the gun culture. Super Size Me did it to fast food. Now The God Who Wasn't There does it to religion. Holding modern Christianity up to a bright spotlight, this eye-opening documentary asks the questions few dare to ask. "Did Jesus even exist?" is just the beginning for The God Who Wasn't There. Your guide through the world of Christendom is former fundamentalist Brian Flemming, joined by such luminaries as Jesus Seminar fellow Robert M. Price, author Sam Harris and historian Richard Carrier. In addition to the film, which won the Best Documentary award at the 2005 Grassroots Cinema Film Festival, this feature-packed DVD includes: -Special commentary tracks with Richard Dawkins and Earl Doherty -Over one hour of compelling additional interview footage -An in-depth Web-enabled slide show -Music from the soundtrack -Bios of all participants This provocative DVD takes off the gloves and gives religion an unprecedented, no-holds-barred examination. So hold on to your faith. It's in for a bumpy ride.

Rating: - Another Atheist's Review
I may have overestimated the intelligence and artistic ability when I rented this DVD. For some reason, I thought that it would be reminiscent of early Michael Moore stuff. At worst, I thought that the filmmaker would've at least put a little effort into the thing. I felt like I was watching a youtube video. It was too sloppy and they could've left most of the beginning out and maybe get more interviews in. The music was horrible. If you're prone to getting songs in your head, you'll keep hearing ... Rating: - Ignorant at best.
This DVD is poorly done in every way. Between misquoting and taking scripture completely out of context, interviewing (on both sides) people who are not intelligent about what they are saying, and the goofy takes from old movies, this meager documentary shouldn't be taken too seriously by anyone...whether they agree or disagree with the conclusions put forth.
Rating: - Unsubstantiated
Most reviews miss the point. I'll keep it simple - the views presented here are stupid and unsubstantiated, like so many atheist viewpoints. The existence of Jesus Christ is far better documented, as is the development of the early church (and no, it's not a church secret), than the lives of the Roman emperors. When you attack strawman positions, mislead and fabricate on the facts, what do you get? This video. Did you really think that using the Jesus Seminar adds to one's argument, a group so discredited ... Read More
Rating: - Dissapointing
Although I completely agree with the content, the film itself is very amateur-ish, overly snarky and lacks any sort of coherent structure. Don't waste your money on this DVD.
Rating: - "The God Who Wasn't There"
I see no harm in challenging theologies to support the belief systems they present.
The DVD "The God Who Wasn't There" presents challenges to Christian theology, challenges clearly worthy of obfuscation-free response.
The DVD "The God Who Wasn't There" is a "must see"!
