This is two-time JUNO Winner David Francey's most recent album and it also was nominated for a JUNO (Canadian Grammy) as Roots and Traditional Album of the Year in the solo category.
The stunning collection of songs was recorded in Nashville with acclaimed performers Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch and Fats Kaplin. This CD shares the simple recording style of David's first three albums but adds a driving rhythm provided by these amazing Nashville artists. Canada is legendary for producing incredible singer/songwriters who vividly describe the human condition (Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Stan Rogers) and David Francey is the latest in that great tradition.

Rating:  - Fine effort, but...
David Francey has produced some fine music over the past decade. This effort is thoroughly enjoyable and addresses some difficult topics. My only reservation was the sense I got that being in Nashville changed his sound so that it is a little less natural and his own and sounds a little more Nashville, hence, produced. Francey doesn't need production or polishing. Well, that's the view from here!

David Francey was coming to a nearby venue with James Keelaghan, and I was lucky to get a listen to this CD before its release.
There is a good feeling you get when you can sit back and have a nice, open conversation with a friend. You also feel that way when you listen to this CD, because that is how Francey sings.

This is a GREAT album. The songs feel so right from the first hearing and soon it feels like you've known them all your life--they are so honest and true. The lyrics are both simple and profound and Francey singing is intense and passionate. Buy this, you won't regret it.
