Editorial Review: Every now and then, the CGI effects in Garfield: The Movie are less than perfect--which makes you realize how astonishingly seamless the rest of the effects are. When Garfield's owner, Jon (Breckin Meyer, Clueless), agrees to take in a homeless dog so as to flirt with a sexy veterinarian (Jennifer Love Hewitt, I Know What You Did Last Summer), Garfield does his best to oust the dog from the house. But when a greedy television performer (Stephen Tobolowsky, Bossa Nova) kidnaps the mutt for his own nefarious purposes, Garfield sets out on a rescue mission. Garfield is a terrible movie, yet there's something weirdly compelling in its awfulness. Bill Murray (Rushmore, Ghostbusters), who voices the fat cat, has mastered a comic style that wallows fondly in ridiculousness. Perhaps, seduced by the siren call of Murray's voice, the audience can only marvel at the sublime junk of our culture. --Bret Fetzer
When Jon Arbuckle's second pet, a dog named Odie, is kidnapped, it is up to his lazy lasagna loving cat named Garfield to rescue him. Genre: Feature Film-Comedy Rating: PG Release Date: 19-OCT-2004 Media Type: DVD

Rating: - A good story
The weird CGI cat did throw this film off just a tad but over all I thought that they captured the spirit of Garfield.
Rating: - Garfield, the Movie- Follow Along DVD Review
This is a fantastic way to teach your child to read! This edition, the Follow Along edition, of Garfield, the Movie, has special "kid friendly" colorful captions. These captions follow the movie's dialogue exactly. Kids can read the words as they watch the movie. Unlike traditional captions, these captions are in bright colors and are easier to read.
The Follow Along edition contains the complete, standard version of Garfield, the Movie, but also has this extra caption feature. If ... Read More
Rating: - Garfield is Okay
It is a decent little movie. I think kids would like it, although I don't know if you can really appreciate the movie unless you are familiar with the comic. The basic premise is that Garfield lives with Jon and he is a fat lazy cat, no surprise. Jon has been taking Garfield to the vat a lot so he can flirt with the veterinarian, Liz (played by the ALWAYS gorgeous Jennifer Love Hewitt). Liz needs to find a home to a less than intelligent dog, Odie. Garfield gets very jealous of Odie and eventually ... Read More
Rating: - My son LOVES this movie
My son (and me and my husband) thought this movie was so funny! Especially if you have cats and understand them. It really plays on the way cats act compared to dogs. Its really hilarious in parts. A good clean fun movie for the whole family.
Rating: - Very goodo movie... for the whole family!
Overall the DVD was good and very much appropriate for young children. However, after a couple of weeks it had fallen to the back of his preference list. We've not watched it in over a year now. I guess this isn't so different from any other DVD we have.
I would recommend this for young children. it does have a few scenes that very concervative parents may term violent. The movie is mostly an original concept and follows the exploits of Garfield and Odie that we all grew up with.
