Editorial Review: The Dayton VIT-1 virtually eliminates the 60 Hz hum introduced into your home entertainment system through your analog cable or antenna connection, and is usually noticed when connecting a powered subwoofer to your home theater system. A passive design does not affect your analog cable tv signal strength (not recommended for use ondigital cable or cable modem installations). In extreme cases the use of a grounding block may also be necessary. Connect the transformer in-line between your cable line and TV using the female F-connector on the cable side, and the male F-connector on the TV. Operating frequency: 54 MHz to 1 GHz. Note: Interferes with digital cable, cable modem, and satellite TV operation.

This little adapter solved a bunch of headaches with my group loop hum problem in both video and audio. When introducing a 3 pronged plug (an Xbox 360 to be exact) into my TV/cable setup, I noticed a horrible ground hum in the speakers and picture even with 360 powered off. If I disconnected the coax from the cable box or that 3 pronged plug, that annoyance would disappear. So I opted to get this isolation transformer and placed it in between the affected cable line and cable box. That solved ... Read More

I started to do some research and read about power conditioning and was about to buy this $300 power conditioner just to get rid of the hum. I'm glad I didn't buy that power conditioner because this little thing fixed all my problems. No hum, cleaner picture (no rolling lines) and best ... Read More
Rating: - Affordable workaround for ground loop hum in audio/video system
I've got a coax cable coming into my house for analog cable TV and digital Internet. The cable goes to a splitter, and from there feeds into my a/v system as well as my cable modem. My computer feeds back into the a/v system via a mixer. There was no noise in my system's audio until the cable line was introduced. The cable company's technicians confirmed that both the cable and the house are exceptionally well grounded, but they couldn't figure out how to make the hum go away. Finally, after seeing ...
