- Privacy a must
I wanted privacy in public places and on Airplanes, and the filter seems to help. I am using this on a Sony SZ770 with the LED Backlight. It does dim the screen 10-15%, which is enough to require increasing the default battery screen brightness. After that, you don't notice it. Worth the sight hit on batter life.

I am quite pleased with this product. I have been debating on purchasing this produt for quite a while because it is sooo pricey for something like privacy. The decision was made for me the day when classmates sitting behind me starting talking about what I had on my screen as if I couldn't hear them. - Works great and stays in place
I had looked at other products like the generic 3M filter, but when I saw Sony was coming out with one designed for my computer, I waited and ordered it as soon as it came out. Unlike the reviews for other products, I see very little darkening of the screen from staraight on. By the time I am off-axi by 30 degrees or so, the screen is not viewable. In other words, it works! - trade-off of darkened screen?
Effectively blocks periferial views of the screen, but darkens the screen considerably. Very difficult to remove. Requires tape on the sides to keep properly in place. But as far as I know, there is no better alternative.
