It really works, it is cheap and works best with DSLRs, however, I have used it with my point and shoot as well. It is just the little pellets inside the pod and they are easily adjustable with your hands moving them around. The exterior is soft so it won't scratch your camera or any surface you put it on. It really works well in uneven surface and holds well even at an angle. Now of course caution needs to used in the case of a slopping area mainly for camera safety from sliding or falling but ...
