Though marketed as a raunchy teen sex comedy à la Porky's, Just One of the Guys is an amusing and well-acted comic riff on gender roles. Believing that she's lost a journalism contest because she's a woman, high school student Joyce Hyser disguises herself as a boy in order to see how the other half lives. Her investigation leads her to discover some interesting truths about how men and women treat each other in social and romantic situations. The screenplay by coproducers Jeff Franklin (a veteran TV scribe) and Dennis Feldman nicely balances the sex-driven gags with more character-driven material, which is well delivered by Hyser, Clayton Rohner as her eccentric pal, and especially Billy Jacoby as her perpetually aroused brother; the capable cast also includes Sherilyn Fenn and Arye Gross. Eighties music fans should also appreciate the soundtrack, which features tracks by Berlin, Lindsay Buckingham, and the Stooges. --Paul Gaita
She's 18, she's beautiful and she's about to set off an epidemic of comic hysteria when she enrolls in a new high school as JUST ONE OF THE GUYS. Stars Golden Globe nominated actress Sherilyn Fenn ("Twin Peaks").

Rating: out of 5 stars - What A Horrible, Horrible Movie
Don't bother. I like bad movies but this was just terrible. The acting is a joke. Joyce Hyser in particular hammed it up as a girl pretending to be a guy in order to be a reporter. The movie is riddled with poorly executed cliches and ridiculously improbable behaviors/situations. Sounds good, I know. I normally love 80's movies, but this was just bad. If you really feel a need to watch this, make sure you aren't paying much for it. I regret the $4 I spent on this atrocious film.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Classic! Very fond memories =)
I'm a product of the 80's & love everything about it from music, to cartoons, and to the movies. I'll always love She-Ra & Jem & The holograms. This movie was so funny to me growing up & has only gotten better with time. I am not going into full details but Terry is a girl who wants to be a writer for a paper. Her article gets turned down & a guy was picked as the winner. She decides to dress up as a guy, attend another school to prove a point & submit the same article but ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Just One of the Guys
Very much a movie of the Eighties, this light look gives a glimpse at another time. Nothing exciting, just a slower moving story about feminism and romance. A young lady thinks she has been slighted at a shot working for a newspaper for the summer. Supposedly by less qualified writers, guys namely. She decides to take it to another school to enter it and pretends to be a guy. Although in fact her paper doesn't cut it there either. Now the story centers on her failing romance with her old boyfriend ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - 80's at it's best
i love just one of the guys. it is alittle dated. but, it still holds up rather well. some of the acting is hit or miss. but, clayton rohner knocks it out of the park the entire movie. he is very impressive this being his first lead in a feature. i actually just saw him in a trailer for a film called, "the essence of depp". billy jayne is very funny as well. another good actor. all in all, it's still a fun film and remains a favorite.
