Editorial Review: The X125 All-In-One Office Center features Lexmark's award-winning core inkjet technology. With 2400 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution in black and color on all paper types and a seven-picoliter color drop size, text is sharp and photo-quality images are vivid and textured - giving business documents and presentations professional appeal. The sheet-fed scanner offers up to 600 x 1200 dpi optical resolution and 36-bit color scan depth. Users will find the X125 perfect for scanning color photos and images to incorporate into business documents.Offering added functionality to a home office, the X125 operates as a standalone color copier capable of generating up to 12 copies per minute (cpm) in black and up to 5 cpm in color. The LCD screen enables users to easily copy up to 99 black or color copies from one original, and to resize photos and documents from 25 to 200 percent.Boasting standalone black and color fax capabilities, the X125's sheet-fed design and straightforward LCD screen make sending multiple page documents a fast and easy process. With speeds of up to 33.6Kbps and a fax memory that can store up to 80 pages, the X125 is well suited for efficiently sending and receiving lengthy documents.
Lexmark's X125 is a compact, self-contained multifunction device for your printing, scanning, and faxing needs, and most of your copying needs as well. The scanner uses a feed-through device instead of a flat bed, so pages pass through one-by-one. You can scan them into your PC or make copies in black-and-white or color without a PC. The X125 looks much like an enlarged fax machine, and indeed provides full fax facilities, including speed dial and memory storage for up to 70 numbers. Paper feeds from a near-vertical tray at the rear to a long pullout tray at the front. Above this is a second (clip-on) tray that catches pages as they exit the scanning mechanism. The machine uses old-style, high-capacity cartridges, which are easy to fit and clip into place. A two-line LCD eases setup by directing you to, for example, align the machine's print heads before installing the driver software. The bundle includes photo editing and OCR software as well as facilities for faxing. These utilities install easily, but the driver isn't as user-friendly as those typically supplied with the more consumer-oriented printers, lower in Lexmark's price range. In our tests, printed output was generally good, with sharp black text and finely detailed color prints. Resolution is high at 2,400 dpi, but we could still see fine dots in areas of variable shading. The print times, particularly for text, were low, with a five-page text document printing in just over a minute. Photo printing, at the best quality, took nearly 3 minutes. Color copies weren't that effective, losing definition and bleaching some colors, particularly magenta tones. While they would be okay for quick copies intended for personal use, they would probably not be appropriate for giving to customers. As a multifunction device, the X125 is functional and well-designed. It has some restrictions, most noticeably an inability to scan from books or magazines because it is sheet-fed, but still provides printing, scanning, copying, and faxing in one compact device at a good price. --Simon Williams, Amazon.co.uk What's in the Box X125 All-in-One Office Center, ViewAhead Photo Center software, ABBYY FineReader Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, #20/15M0120 high-resolution color print cartridge, #70/12A1970 high-resolution black print cartridge, installation software CD-ROM (drivers and utilities), phone cord, power cord, quick reference guide, setup sheet, scan/fax exit tray

Rating: - Great if you want to fax 10 pages all at once!
This is the worst fax/printer I have ever owned. If you are going to fax more than one page it pulls them all through at once so you have to feed it one at a time! Time to look for a new fax.
Rating: - X-125 works great
From opening the box to printing took less than 15 minutes. I also read all of the reviews and wonder who the people are that are reporting all of these problems. This little unit works great (have had it installed for over two weeks) and I get good copies, printing, faxes, and scans. It is not a flatbed so you cannot scan really small items easily, unless you tape them to a piece of paper. However, for the price, or even at twice the price I could not find a better unit. yes, I did download ... Read More
Rating: - Requires too many ink cartridges
5 out of 10 print jobs are slanted, maybe because it grabs the paper so hard. I've invested a small fortune in ink cartridges alone. Never have seen a machine similar to this one require so many ink cartridges as this one does. When the message displays "change ink cartridge" you can't get anything else to work, so you're forced to buy more. I'll count my losses and buy a better machine.
Rating: - How hard is it to feed paper
I've had my Lexmark X125 for almost a year now. I'm now shopping for an HP. At least once every 50-100 sheets, the paper feed mechanizm goofs and I have to open up the printer and pull out scrunched paper. And the lines of text on all pages are slightly slanted due to the paper pulling mechanism being on the paper's left side. The fax/copy feeder slot tries to feed as many sheets at the same time as it can. So to fax or copy a multi page document, I have to feed the sheets one at a time. ... Read More
Rating: - After Xerox and Epson this is a dream
I've owned Xerox multi-function lasers and God knows how many Epson ink-jets. All I can say is that the unit has worked flawlessly from moment I set it up (took all of 3 mins.). I've had it about 6 months now. The quality of the color printing is superb. Unlike Epson units that seem to clog up and become useless hunks of color-glob spewing plastic junk if you let them sit idle for a few days without printing, the Lexmark prints perfect, crisp color pages every time - on demand. I will never buy another ... Read More
