Set up a quick steal, explode on the fast break, drive to the paint or kick the ball back for a game-ending three. NBA Live 2003 promises gameplay with more hand control, smoother, faster action and NBA signature moves. And it's not just a shooting exposition. You'll find the huge "D" to smack back those dunk attempts and rattle the boards for key rebounds.
The latest incarnation of NBA Live has a whole slew of new features, like Freestyle Control, which lets you use the right analog stick to express your game with the step-back move, triple-threat moves, pass interceptions, and more. There are significant changes to the rebounding logic so players react in a more realistic manner to missed shots. Over 30 new rebounding animations allow for a wider variety of pulls off the glass. Motion capture was performed with two to four athletes simultaneously and is used for specific contact situations like post moves, pick-and-roll plays, and drawing the charge.
Enhanced CPU logic and AI allow for more effective fast breaks, with open players cutting to the hoop for scoring opportunities, and the fine-tuned turbo buttons afford players a wider array of in-game strategies. There are also enhanced dribbling and player movements, player-specific signature moves, and more responsive shot blocking. In addition, real NBA coaches roam the sidelines, and there is dramatic camera coverage of in-game and out-of-play sequences. You will hear what it's like to be on the court with all-new player calls, as well as court and arena sound effects. Classic jerseys give gamers a chance to relive their teams' glory days in authentic gear.

Rating: out of 5 stars - For Kids or Not?
Surprisingly my 4 year olds can play this game and do pretty well. This is of coarse a blessing and a curse. What's even more interesting is that they can even pull off some dazzling moves and dunks in the process. While the controls for NBA Street would be impossible to pull anything fancy off for them, this game lets them shoot, pass and dunk with just two buttons. NBA 2003 is one of the most arcadey SIM games to come out in some time. If you like to make most of your jump shots and make a ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - its cool
its a good game bottomline i don't find any faults with it except that when u miss a shot u end up winding with a basket from the other team.

Rating: out of 5 stars - this game sucks vs. computer
i have it for the computer not ps2 but it sucks if you play against the computer.the gameplay vs. computer basically goes like this...you either block there shot or it going in.not real at all.you could block 20 shots with one player in this game on a good night.you could block 10 every game.the point guard from there team could be rated low and dominate a game.this game is garbage but the only reason i gave it 2 stars is cuz it has good moves and realistic looking moves.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Fun arcade game, but very weak overall
If you want a simple arcade basketball game, you'll be happy with NBA Live 2003. However, serious gamers should avoid this game like the plague. The serious negatives include:
1.There is no way to play D. Occasionaly you can take a charge, but blocking a drive to the hoop is way too hard, stopping a drive is near impossible.
2. Fast Breaks are available on every play. Again this is totally unrealistic
3. Your players never get tired. No need to sub.
4. In Franchise ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - An addictive game but needs improving
I got excited when the game came came out and when i got it, it was the only game i played for the next 3 weeks. Then, i got bored with it. I realized the game needed improving. If an all star with good shooting skills is wide open and he shoots, he will miss. But, a poor shooter goes for the three with 2 or 3 men in his face, he makes it. Strange. what also needs improving is the less fouls. Really, i run up a guy, and he doesn't lay finger on the ball handler, but commits a foul. I don't get that, ... Read More
