Editorial Review:
Dora the Explorer has lost her teddy bear! Osito is truly missing, and Dora and her friend Boots believe he has ended up--like all mislaid things--in the mysterious Lost City. Planning an expedition to find Osito becomes complicated, though, when it turns out that Dora is far from the only one missing a personal treasure. Mami Bugga Bugga has lost her children's baby blankets, for one thing, while Pirate Pig has misplaced his hat!
Despite these revelations Dora is on her way soon enough, headed to the Lost City in search of a handful of wayward items. The path is not smooth, however. Obstacles like the Big Pond (where Pirate Pig's minions must be sorted into variously colored boats) and the Number Pyramid (a place for elementary math skills to get a workout) crop up along the route. These and other puzzles cry out to be solved... preferably before Dora continues on her way.
Aimed solidly at players ages 3 and older, Dora the Explorer: Lost City Adventure is a simple game with a straightforward storyline and no unpleasant surprises. The flow of its educational subject matter is frequently broken with animations and songs, making it easier for young gamers to maintain a focus on learning. Its activities are the most basic of skill builders, easily mastered even at their highest levels of difficulty. Lost City Adventure also stimulates user interest by doling out a sprinkling of Spanish vocabulary through its animations, exposing players to a handful of easily learned words from Dora's mother tongue.
As for Dora herself, her good-natured encouragement and enthusiasm for the quest to the Lost City are infectious, and children are certain to respond eagerly to every task she puts before them on the way to rescue Osito. --Alyx Dellamonica
Dora's special teddy bear is lost. She and Boots post a sign, and then decide to take matters into their own hands. With her trusty map for guidance and help from kids, Dora and Boots journey to the Lost City, a mysterious, hidden place where all lost objects go. Along the way, they travel to exotic locations, encounter some of their friends--Pirate Pig, Mami Bugga Bugga, and more--and help them regain their lost objects, too.
Throughout Dora the Explorer: Lost City Adventure kids play cool math-related games and learn a little Spanish, too. The game's two play modes--adventure and free play--diversify gameplay, while three adjustable difficulty levels keep the game challenging. Kids also search for hidden stars throughout the game and collect them in a very special star pouch. Plus, printable games and math activities let children take the learning fun with them wherever they go.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Love it
My 2 1/2 year old loves the game. He always want to play Dora even though I do have other games for him as well. He does need my help from time to time but mostly I can let him just go and play on his own with very little super vision. I did not like how easy it is for him to accidently click on higher levels and I would have to fix it and put it back down to level 1 again. Overall I really liked this game for my son.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Does not WORK!!!!
We are now on our 2nd disc and both did not work in my computer which is just a few years old. Never had a problem with any other software. Stay away from this game!!!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Don't buy this
I installed this computer on a Gateway 700S and it doesn't work at all. I went to Atari's technical support and followed the suggestions for updating video, sound, and DirectX, which didn't help at all. Now I have a game I can't return and can't play.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Dora the Explorer Animal Adventures
Software is poor, tried on 3 different computers the cd won't run on any of them. Atari must know about the problem because the web site list what the computer does, but no solution to the problem. Its a waste of time and money.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Know your numbers?
Yes, as a previous reviewer said, the Lost City is full of number recognition. My kids are 5 and 2 1/2 and they are both big Dora fans. My 5 year old has tired of this game (we've had it at least a year), but my 2 1/2 year old loves to play the paint-by-number game (I just wish there are more than a handful of pictures) and can now recognize many numbers! So kudos to the game. But he still finds frustration with the other parts of this game. For a more rounded game, try Dora's backpack.
