Editorial Review: Sensational sales figures, almost a cult status amongst their fans all over the world, sold-out shows, high chart positions and thrilling performances at almost every important European metal Festival: The Italian formation Rhapsody, with their three previously released albums, Legendary Tales (1997), Symphony Of Enchanted Lands (1998) and Dawn Of Victory (2000) as well as the speciallly priced Album, Rain Of A Thousand Flames released last Autumn, has been able to create a totally new and unique style called 'Hollywood Metal' and to fascinate fans all over the world with it. Power Of The Dragonflame, their fourth full length album is another episode of the exciting Emerald Sword saga and one which brings the saga to an end. Power Of The Dragonflame took form in familiar surroundings, namely in the Wolfsburg 'Gate Studios` with Sascha Paeth and Miro, themselves experienced musicians (Heavens Gate, Virgo etc) and who have been closely tied to the success of the Italian band since the beginning of Rhapsody's career. Similar to their previous releases, the musicians Luca Turilli (guitar), Alessandro Staropoli (keyboards), Fabio Lione (vocals) and Alex Holzwarth (drums) let off a spectacular firework display of ideas, showing themselves not only as heavy, fast and aggressive, but also epic and orchestral. After the sensitive intro, 'In Tenebris' and exciting tracks such as 'Knightrider Of Doom`, 'The March Of The Swordmaster' and 'Steelgods Of The Last Apocalypse' the album culminates in the closing, over 19 minute long 'Gargoyles, Angels Of Darkness', which begins with a calm acoustic guitar prologue, accelerates in typical Rhapsody fashion and which includes the expressive, unusually theatrical voice of singer Fabio Lione. 'Gargoyles, Angels Of Darkness' combines all of the band's strengths: their rhythmic finesse, their epic basic structures and the hymn-like vocals.

Rating: - Rhapsody's last great album
Rhapsody's 2002 album Power of the Dragonflame, the final installment in their Emerald Sword saga, features the masters of Italian power metal at their creative peak. The band arrived during the power metal revival of the late 1990's, and their particular blend of Helloween, Iron Maiden and Yngwie Malmsteen won over more and more fans with successive release. The band also perfected their virtuoso guitar work, dramatic vocals, symphonic arrangements, and fantasy subject matter along the way.

Rating: - Medieval gospel opera metal...what?
This cd is not epic at all. Nor is the band. I bought this cd thinking it would just be normal metal and boy oh boy what did I get myself into. After repeatedly trying to get into it, I cannot take this cd's content seriously at all one bit. With a song like Agony is my Name, I cant prevent myself from laughing at it. I ended up giving this cd away to a friend it was so terrible. I like the way the band thought, but their lyrics are absolutely terrible.
Rating: - Epic and powerful
I purchased Rhapsody's 'Power of the Dragonflame' after I have listened to 'Symphony of Enchanted Lands 2'. Frankly, 'Power of the Dragonflame' is just fantastic. The music is symphonic, aggressive and powerful. It contains the ingredients of a great ablum - instrumentation, great arrangement, massive choirs, opera singings etc. For this ablum, I particularly like Knightrider - especially the moment when the guitar solo breaks though. Power of the Dragonflame - the chorus. Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness ... Read More
Rating: - Powerfull Stuff
Ohh yeah! this is the real thing when it comes to HeavyMetal. ive heard the real good stuff before but this is in a league of its own. definatley a must for anyone, even if they do not like metal.
Rating: - The Algalord Chronicles come to a dazzling finish
The self-titled "Mighty Warriors of Epic Symphonic Hollywood Metal" are back with their fifth and most aggressive studio album. All the Rhapsody fanfare is there - ten tracks, the first of which is completely orchestral, an amazing production - complete with perfectly synthesized symphonies - and of course, dragons, dragons, dragons.
The album, which completes the Emerald Sword saga, is more aggressive and ambitious than its predecessor, the somewhat lackluster Dawn of Victory. The typical, ... Read More
