Editorial Review: This is the debut album from an act that perfectly blends the lush sounds and emotion of classic new wave/new romantic music with modern synthpop. The song "Wake" received a lot of positive attention both online and from the previously released CD single. The album lives up to the single in every aspect.

I, unlike the other reviewer, like the whole sound of this cd. I would highly recommend this cd. I would however NOT recommend their Parallel Universe cd. I think the vocals are really bizarre on Parallel Universe compared to Ashes Ashes. If you like De/Vision and others like them, you would like this cd. I bought it just from hearing one song on a mix cd. I am glad I bought it!
Rating: - The vocals detract
Hrm. I frankly envy those who can listen to this album without being bugged by the vocals, because there's a lot of good stuff going on here. Unfortunately, while I can excuse the relative blandness of Jason's voice, the fact that he regularly goes off-key is a lot harder to get past.
Leiahdorus could be right up there with Mesh, Iris, De/Vision, et al. on the forefront of the dark-synthpop revival, but I don't see it happening with this particular singer.
Rating: - Ashes Ashes is a wonderful debut . . .
I was first introduced to Leiahdorus and this album by a friend, and it quickly became one of my favorites and most played. It's is piano-driven, light synth-pop with some some wonderfully catchy tunes and solid lyrics. I really like Jason's vocals, it may take some getting used to, but it adds a uniqueness which adds the enjoyment of the album. The songs range from soft ballads (Dissection of Man) to the upbeat and very danceable (Jupiter). You can tell a lot of emotion and feeling was put into ... Read More
Rating: - The most refreshing thing I've heard....
I downloaded "Indigent" from here and wow. It blew my mind.
The music style is electronic/piano rock. It's kind of new wavey stuff, but not. It's extremely unique! The vocals are beautiful, and the songs all flow freely, yet in one direction. It's very relaxing and beautiful to listen to.
This is a gem in my eclectic collection of music. It's sits very high on my list.
This group is coming out with a new CD very soon. I was surprised since I just bought this ... Read More
Rating: - One of the brightest new synthpop stars
A lot of synthpop stuff that's being put out isn't produced overly well or the singing isn't up to par. Leiahdorus puts those weaknesses to rest. The piano and haunting vocals on Wake, retro-synth So Much, hard driven pop of Jupiter, and the brooding Come Around are just a few of the incredible tracks.
Like synthpop? Miss new wave?
