Back in the early 1990s, after the world had gone mad for Tetris, Nintendo put out its own variant of the puzzle game that, unlike most clones of the day, actually brought some new life to the original idea. Now the classic Nintendo game, with some improvements of its own, is reintroduced for the Nintendo 64. Rather than just twisting shapes to fill vacant spaces, Dr. Mario 64 will have you matching capsule-shaped pills to fight like-colored viruses. Players earn point bonuses when stringing combos together. Dr. Mario 64 comes with the original one- and two-player modes, and introduces a simultaneous four-player mode.

Dr. Mario 64 is a great game for people who like Tetris and Dr. Mario. If you have played Dr. Mario for the NES (1980s) or SNES (1990s), then you know that the game can be rather addictive. However, the Nintendo 64 version is even better in that you can play against three other players, either computer or human.

The only reason I play this game is because it's pretty addictive; however, it has many flaws: The music is extremely annoying, the sound effects aren't at all notable, you hardly get any points for clearing viruses, you get no points for just matching 4 regular pieces, and the graphics on this game are no different from the regular Nintendo. The game is a lot of fun even though it's old. However, I wish the game worked better. The comment said the game was in "excellent" condidition and was like new. I have to pull it in and out, turn the system on and off and really work with the game to get it to play. Once it comes on it works really great and we have fun playing but getting there is a completely different story.

I love puzzle games, I've really grown addicted to them over the years, that's why I have like fifteen Tetris games on my wish list. Dr. Mario may not be an improvement over past iterations, but has plenty of fun to keep you entertained for a long time.

I really got this for my wife, BUT it is evidently a great game. She plays it by the hours - so much so, that the kids and I can't get near it!
