Editorial Review:
Troma Team Video proudly presents a suspensful and humorous tragic-comic tale of the struggle for sucess by outcasts on the wrong side of the law. Each driven by their own particular image of a hero they show themselves to be but pale imitations of their ideals and idols. High-strung Rock (Gary Beadle), soft spoken Sal (Pancho Russell), wide-eyed Space (Saltz), and token American Natch (John Bushell) are four small-time crooks who are offered a major score by a gangster named Boo. However, the group is short a getaway driver. Kevin (David Doyle) is a luckless slacker who has been wandering from one part of the country to another; after Rock takes pity on him and gives him a place to stay, it dawns on him that Kevin could repay his kindness to Rock by driving the getaway car. However, there's one hitch -- Kevin doesn't know how to drive, and the more Rock tries to teach him, the more befuddled he becomes. Fans of Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez will go wild for the exciting and hilarious action of The Imitators.

Rating: out of 5 stars - minor indie masterpiece
This is an excellent off-beat,low-budget comedy-thriller with a dash of romance which looks great for the money, is consistently entertaining, original, gutsily but subtley directed by Winearls & features great (& surprisingly nuanced and touching) performances from the ensemble cast, Gary Beadle's in particular standing out as charismatic, intense and disturbing. Why isn't this guy a massive star? Well worth watching - & a chance to see a very talented cast before they become huge...

A gritty, atmospheric tale of bank robbery, betrayal and bad driving, it follows the fortunes of the gang ... Read More
