Rating: - Just Like The Real Thing on AKA'S
I was stationed on this type ship for three years during the Korean War. The USS Union AKA 106 & USS Seminole AKA 108. This is the type in the movie and gives a very accurate portrail of the way it was. A very good movie with fine actors and great story line. Well worth seeing. It brought back great memories for me. Loved running the vp's & M boats. The ships of this type hauled every thing from cherry pickers and bull dozers to seal skins from far off Alaskan waters. We also hauled trucks, tanks ... Read More

I don't own it yet, however, I am going to; soon as I can get it from Amazon. I gave it 5 stars back when I first saw it and I still do. I first saw it way back in 1956 or 1957. Rating: - good film but
I enjoyed watching Away All Boats but I would have enjoyed it more in widescreen. The version I watched was in full frame, pan and scan. Are there any widescreen versions available? Having just watched The Caine Mutiny, I think Capt. Queeg could have learned some valuable lessons from tha Captain in Away All Boats.
Rating: - A nice movie, well acted , but a little slow in places
As a child I remember watching this one with my Dad and enjoying it very much. I wish you could give half stars because that is what I would give this. The cast is first rate with special honors going to Jeff Chandler and his turn as the Captain. He really show what command must be like. We see the worry over his crew and how he has to ride them hard sometime to keep them ready to do their jobs and still shows the feeling of loneliness that goes with the job. My only problem with this film is that it tends ... Read More
