Rating:  - NO SONG LYRICS IN ENGLISH! *sob!*
This version of my favorite Godzilla film features great sound and picture, original Japanese dialogue - BUT, the English dubbing doesn't include the "Save the Earth" lyrics beloved of my youth.
I'd hoped to screen this for my seven year old eco-conscious neice when she visits, but without the song it isn't the same. I've just found the Smog Monster/Megalon dvd elsewhere so hopefully that has the original full dub. Though it's on it's way, if anyone knows for certain I'd appreciate a tip.

My favorite movie of the Showa series.
It's by far the weirdest of all the G-flicks. So obviously a product of it's time. It's bizarre and sometimes creepy, but that's what makes it so interesting. There is no other Godzilla movie like this one. I also believe it's the first one to use that silly fanfare score, so that's a fun bonus. The big battle at the end is also pretty long.
Keep an eye out for those hill people spying through the bushes.

Maybe it's not the best story. Maybe it's not the best effects. But still I have to say best Godzilla movie ever! In this film it's more of a fantasy. A boy who worships his friend Godzilla. The reason why this movie was made because of the polution in japan.

I've always thought this was the best of the Godzilla movies. At least as long as you fast forward past the songs.Basicaly it's Godzilla vers the Smog monster created by man's destruction of the enviroment via chemicals and smog.Love the way the Smog monster keeps changing (tadpole to two legged monster to flying monster)and Godzilla's contempt for man's stupity. This movie is one of the sharpest I've seen even on DVD's. Most DVD's are sharp(clearer) than VHS but this nears HD quality.

Godzilla vs Hedorah (Smog Monster) was one of if my favorite of the original series but I wish they could added the american voice over in addtion and the monster was called heedorah as opposed to hedorah or the hedorah but the version was still excellent and i recomend it for all G fans but hopefully they make a smog monster version for the hard G fans
