It's Hollywood. Actresses hate getting passed over. Cold shoulders are common. Petty sniping is part of the fabric of the place, but it takes two to fight. Cassidy Hyland's birthday party for her son is about to spark much more than a truce with Brenna Lanigan, her cold costar on the television sci-fi series "Time Trails". It becomes the first step in a journey neither woman ever imagined her heart could take: to love another woman. Both women have pretty "straight" personal stories. Brenna is "just over the hill" by Hollywood standards. She's 41, with two teenage sons, and a second husband back in her Midwest hometown. She has spent from age 18 at theaters and on television, even a few movies, living out roles that other people write. Cassidy is relatively new. At 32, she came to Hollywood after majoring in Literature and Drama in college. She did a little modeling, got small parts, had a child, and escaped her abusive marriage when she landed on "Time Trails". From the warmth of an unexpected hug, to the heat on a sunlit mountain top, getting to know each other brings these two women closer to the truth of themselves, and how open their hearts have never been before. Turning Point explores the journey of these two women surrounded by a mix of supportive and unsupportive cast, from colleagues, to children, parents and spouses, both current and former.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Not for this gay woman
Although this book is described as a lesbian romance novel, there are too many physical interactions between women and men for this description to be accurate. Following a short synopsis of the story I've listed a couple of excerpts as examples.

Brenna Lanigan plays the leading role (commander) of a science fiction program currently running on television. She is on her second marriage and has two boys, 15 and 17. She's 40ish, beautiful and very good at her profession. Cassidy Hyland, ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Great book!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written with great character development. The reader gets drawn in to the women's relationship and cannot help but root for them to find happiness with each other and in their lives. This is a must read!

Rating: out of 5 stars - A Must Read
This is one novel you must read. The story of two straight "living" people who had to make some very difficult decisions. There were constant twists and turns and it definetly held my attention throughout the book. I plan to immediately order her first nove Coloring Outside the Lines. The story is very believable. Excellent read and one that I would revisit.

Rating: out of 5 stars - A very strong book
I'll give this one a solid 3 stars, but it still falls towards the upper levels of that rating. Part of me felt that the book was a touch too dry or unemotional in its prose, but a part of me was fascinated by the detail in which the psyches of each of the main characters was delved into, unflinchingly. Circumstances would simultaneously seem somewhat contrived, and provide enormous illumination into the motivations of the characters involved.

I enjoyed the careful, thoughtful way the relationships ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Turning Point Had Me Turning Pages
I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it and I think it was because of who the author was basing her characters upon. I know that fan fiction has been around for a long time out in cyberspace but this was the first time I had come across a full length novel incorporating it into a complete storyline. Having the "real life" actors of a popular SciFi/Fantasy TV show fall in love is wonderful. Thanks Lara for taking fan fiction one step further.
