The Knitting Revolution? What`s revolutionary about knitting today is who is knitting (the new knitters are young women and retiring baby-boomers), what they are knitting (exciting yarns and projects), and most of all, why they are knitting (it feels good: the process, its creative and relaxing qualities, is at least as important to them as what they are knitting). What better time for a fresh approach to the learn-to-knit book?
Join The Knitting Revolution focuses on the knit stitch. With introductory chapters titled The Basics of Knitting, What You Need to Know Before You Begin a Project, and So You`re Ready to Start Knitting, this primer is the closest thing betweeen two covers to a knitting coach. Hundreds of clear, step-by-step photographs take you through each skill. Always the goal is to show you what you need to know when you need to know it. Choices are given, so each knitter can find the way that works best. Then the skills are put to work (and into a meaningful context) in the chapter`s projects. Loads of tips and special attention to details ensure that absolute beginners can complete any of the more-than-30 projects successfully; class, yet fun designs assure that they will want to.Like knitting today, this book is personal, passionate, powerful—exactly what the new knitter is looking for and irresistible to the already-converted.

Rating: out of 5 stars - A great Knitting Experience
I got this book for one pattern, the knitted coat, however I was pleased to find so many patterns that I know I can use. The patterns are not so difficult you would not start them, however they do keep your interest...I started the coat the day I received the book...strongly recommend.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Best in Series
I own all three of Sally Melville's Knitting Experience books and this is by far my favorite. There just isn't another book out there that I'm aware of with so many great designs that require only a knit stitch...not a purl to be seen! That's what makes it stand out to me. I've never quite understood why some people are so reluctant to make the jump to purling, but if you've taught knitting I'm sure you've run into a few. The other two books have plenty of Sally's ingenious designs, tips & ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - The Knit Stitch
Along with Book 2, The Purl Stitch, this book is very helpful for beginning knitters. The books arrived promptly from the seller in excellent condition.

Rating: out of 5 stars - book taught me how to knit
I've tried knitting before my sister in law gave me this book and never could understand what the author was telling me to do. This book taught me how to knit with confidence. Besides the fact that the clothing is lovely, the motivation the author gives is wonderful. Totally recommend it.

Rating: out of 5 stars - A knitter's library must-have
Along with Zimmerman's Knitting Without Tears just a delightful basic book to own. I've not tried most of the projects but love reading about them. I know several people that have made at least one project from this book, and a group at my LYS made the Einstein jacket last year. I plan to make it with a friend this winter. We are both 'swatching' now. I made the basic 'Shape it! Scarf" this past spring but the best little tip was a mere side note: to press heavily if using a ribbon yarn. I was using ... Read More
