Sara Michaels is the daughter of a prominent senator who has just announced his candidacy for President of the United States--the same senator who has been receiving death threats against his family. Sara Michaels is also the owner of a self-help clinic and is hell-bent--despite the FBI's warnings--on leading a group of ten women on a two-week sojourn through the Rocky Mountains. In an effort to protect Sara, the FBI recruits homicide detective Jaime Hutchinson to infiltrate the group and secretly provide the protection they are so certain Sara will need. After some clever maneuvering, Jaime finds herself welcomed by the ten conservative women--who soon begin playing matchmaker with Sara and Jaime.
But then Jaime is reminded of the reason that she has joined this group of women when she's forced to lead them out of the mountains and away from a sniper's bullets. Will Sara finally figure out who is behind the death threats? And will Jaime realize the truth--and be able to save Sara before it's too late?

I've been looking for a book like this for a long while. Funny, well written, endearing characters, action, adventure, and an extremely genuine romance.
I read it in one sitting and I'm going to enjoy several more readings of it...then I'm donating it to my library and requesting that they purchase more of Ms. Hill's novels.
Rating:  - Fun action
I'd read one other Gerri Hill book before I picked up this one, and I was hesitant to read another because of the weaknesses I perceived in it, but I was caught without a book to read and a limited selection to choose from on the bookshelf. Another reviewer says that you have to be willing to put up with the mundane in order to get to the good stuff with this author, and I can really relate after reading this book.

Rating: - She's Outdone Herself --- Again
I confess, I'm a raving lunatic fan when it comes to Gerri Hill, my all-time favorite author. IMO "The Target" surpasses "The Killing Room" as her best romance/adventure story. It's that good, and here's why:

Rating:  - Not Perfect but Pretty Good
Although stories of high ranking politicians, their relatives, and FBI agents are getting a little worn out, Gerri Hill does a pretty good job with this one. It's an interesting variation on Jasmine Cresswell's theme in "Final Justice" where the woman's father was a former US Vice President (but with a different ultimate villain).
The first half of the book seemed to drag, but the magnificent descriptions of the Colorado wilderness made up for it. Nevertheless, I'm hoping for more plot/action ... Read More

Gerri Hill is an excellent writer. This book was exciting and kept me reading from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it. Great love and suspense storyline.
