Editorial Review: Even during the carefree months of summer, kids can be preparing for First Grade with Daily Summer Activities, Moving from Kindergarten to First Grade. It?s packed with daily lessons that will build young learners? confidence for that first step into primary school. As someone who has already tried the series said: ?I wanted to make sure my daughter Kelsey was ready for the next grade in school. Daily Summer Activities did the trick. I?m getting Kelsey another one next summer.? ? Parent of First Grader, San Diego, CA. Specific content in this volume includes: beginning and ending sounds, read short vowel word lists, short stories followed by questions to show comprehension, two spelling words to learn each week, mathematics?counting by ones, tens, fives, reading numbers, addition and subtraction facts to nine, shapes, pennies and nickels, patterns, practice manuscript handwriting, readiness for geography skills, draw and write about it. Counting to 10 was never so fun as counting 10 segments of a caterpillar, unless it?s counting the different kinds of cookies in a jar. Future first graders will do both with this book. The practice cards for Daily Summer Activities, Moving from Kindergarten to First Grade are for upper and lower case letters with matching pictures, and numbers to 30. The plentiful color and black & white illustrations in this book are cute and clever, with just enough detail to keep this age group intrigued. Even the answer keys are colorful. All 144 pages, plus eight flash card pages (printed on durable card stock), are perforated for easy removal.

Rating: - A little young
I bought this item for my daughter who is going into first grade. I found it a bit young for her as she is already a reader and ready for some challenging activities. I will be ordering the next step.
Rating: - Good review for new school year
This is a good tool to keep your child refreshed and ready for the next school year. My son likes the fact that he could quickly get through the 2 pages a day. He enjoys being able to color the stars when he completes a page.
Rating: - This will keep your child occupied...
....but its only stuff they already learned in Kindergarten. So do not expect your child to learn a whole bunch of new stuff.
I still liked this Book for it gave my child the opportunity to show me what skills she had and what we still needed to work on < counting in 5's for example>. I liked how every week had a different color and that the weekdays are showed on the bottom of the page. I also liked the "diary "for every week. It is basically a page where you can check off the pages ... Read More
Rating: - good for keeping skills up
I purchased this book and the 1st to 2nd grade book for my son who will be entering the 1st grade. I thought the math portion of this book was way too easy which is the main reason why I also bought the 1st/2nd grade book. The other parts are good for reinforcement, but do not present any challenges. I use it to give my son a sense of mastery. The math in the 1st/2nd grade book is just right and provides a healthy challenge in the other areas.
Rating: - A review of kindergarden
I should have listened to the previous reviewer. This book is too easy. I bought this book so my daughter could get a jump start on first grade. This is more like a review of kindergarden. I think some kindergardeners might benefit from this book but it will be the ones who missed basic concepts. A lot of this book is reviewing the sounds letters make. By the time my daughter finished kindergarden she could read as could most of her classmates. The vocabulary words are all basic site words you ... Read More
