Editorial Review:
This clinically oriented textbook provides a patient-focused approach to the diagnosis and treatment of somatic dysfunction--functional impairment of the musculoskeletal system and related neural and vascular elements--in the context of family medicine practice. The book explains the clinical rationale for osteopathic manipulative treatment in specific situations and details procedures for treating common problems encountered in family medicine. Coverage begins with the philosophy and principles of osteopathic patient care. Two major sections focus on various patient populations and patients with various clinical conditions. A special section covers practice issues such as office set-up, progress notes, coding, and the standardized medical record.

Average Rating:
Rating: - truly useful book
This book is a practical text for the practitioner of Osteopathic Medicine. It covers the treatment of all types of patients of all ages with a broad spectrum of clinical conditions. It is a truly useful reference. One that I find use for daily.
Rating: - first 2 years in one book
this book basically reviews everything you would have learned in the first 2 years of OMM lab at the chicago school. if you focus mainly on musculoskeletal-based OMT, then this book can be helpful. however, the kuchera & kuchera book is the real deal if you want to use OMT for systemic/"internal medicine" diseases. however, if you really want to treat the whole person, then check out anything by sutherland or "anatomy of potency" by nicholas handoll.
