Editorial Review: According to Jim Karas—the man who has helped countless people lose weight and literally reshape their lives—it’s none of the above! Nor is it your gender, your age, or any other reason you may have considered. The answer, says Jim, is that you still haven’t mentally “flipped the switch”—that is, reached the point where the desire to lose weight ?nally becomes more important than the desire to overeat and avoid exercise. The biggest hurdle you will ever face in losing weight isn’t sticking to a diet or going to the gym every day. It’s simply this: getting started. Now the creator of the number one New York Times bestselling book The Business Plan for the Body arms you with the tools that will help you turn your desire for weight loss into reality. Flip the Switch will show you how to:• Blast through the excuses with a series of revealing self-tests that help you confront, understand, and ultimately overcome your issues of denial • Slim down with a detailed set of eating guidelines, including a seven-day jump-start diet plan with menus and shopping lists • Hack through the nonsense (“Only strenuous aerobics will slim me down”) and negative mental graffiti (“I hate my body”; “I’ll never lose weight”) that are holding you back • Firm up with three quick and simple exercise routinesJim’s eating and exercise recommendations are realistic and satisfying, especially when you begin to see the results! If you haven’t flipped the switch, then you haven’t taken the most essential step toward weight loss. Let Jim Karas’s Flip the Switch show you how to change your life—today.

Rating: - Excellent information for weight loss and fitness
Jim Karas has a terrific message for attaining weight loss and general health and fitness. His program involves life-long change to the excessive eating habits many persons have, and advocates resistance and strength training over cardiovascular (treadmills, etc.), in order to build muscle tissue which burns more calories than fat. For older persons (I am 71) this added strength keeps bones strong and minimizes risk of falling. I am following his program, plus am engaged in tennis and bicycling ... Read More
Rating: - It's all about lifestyle change
First, I not a big reader and I don't run around saying "Oh, you've got to read this book!" but this particular one has been very helpful in keeping me motivated as I journey down the path of attaining a healthly weight and lifestyle. I have lost a total of 65 pounds (15 to go) over the course of a year and everybody asks me "what are you doing?" -- I tell them it's all about correcting bad behavior and replacing it with healthy habits -- there is no magic pill, potion or program. This book is not ... Read More
Rating: - No-nonsense book to help change your mindset
I've been varying degress of overweight all my adult life, but in the last 5 years, I ballooned up to nearly 100 pounds over my healthy weight. I've always known what it takes to lose weight -- expend more calories than you take in -- but still had a tough time trying to take off any significant amount of weight. This book helped me make the mental change I needed to get the weight off. So far, I've lost 35 pounds (in 3 months), and still have a very strong resolve to get the rest off. I don't feel ... Rating: - No Gimmicks, Real Results
After following the advice in this book for four weeks, I'm within 20 pounds of my goal weight for the first time in five years. I've done Atkins and South Beach, but my weight loss would always stall after the first two weeks. Jim Karas' approach involves getting you to first believe that you can follow a sensible, effective weight loss program, and then he gives you the diet and exercise guidelines you need. Yes, you will have to exercise, resistance/weight training is crucial, and you will have to ... Read More
Rating: - BORING!!!!
Nothing new here. Same ideas presented in a very uninteresting fashion. This book neither motivated me, nor did it teach me a thing about fat loss.
Jim should read some of the other books that have been published since. The "3 Hour-Diet" by Jorge Cruise and "Five Factor Fitness" by Harley Pasternak are significantly better.
