This is one of those books that I feel all pregnant women should read. It was especially helpful for me, choosing to have a natural childbirth. This book is extremely thorough, I didn't feel I needed to read anything more after I completed this one. I had information on childbirth, circumcision, breastfeeding and more. I highly recommend this book!

This is my favorite birth book I've read so far!! I felt like the author knew me and was speaking directly, and insightfully, to needs I didn't know I had. The illustrations are very useful and I think even my husband will be able to read this book and get a lot out of it. This will be our main "go-to" book for birth-preparation techniques and exercises outside a birthing class. I highly recommend this book to any pregnant woman or woman interested in pregnancy and birth, regardless of where or ... Read More

This book was recommended to me by my (HMO)Midwife because I was asking questions and panicing just a little bit. It shows a variety of options that are available to you as an expectant mother. It offers suggestions and guidance to help you answer those questions that no one else can answer but you. It also helps you to have confindence in your choices. It is an all around great resource that helps to build you up as a soon to be parent!

This book is different from most other birth books, even the naturally minded ones. Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, The Thinking Woman's Guide, the Sears' Birth Book... those are the books you want for the concrete information, your hard data and sources and numbers and statistics. But if you want more than that- if you really want to tap into the emotional, spiritual, and metaphysical aspects of birth- then you need THIS book. If you need help figuring out just HOW exactly you're supposed to cope with ... Read More

I mistakenly bought this book expecting it to be about natural home birth and all of the benefits and how to take control of your birth (everything from herbs to help healing, to dealing with pain, and even filing of a birth certificate). Unfortunately this book speaks very negatively about a husband as a birth coach and even goes on to talk about how they are incapable of playing that role (as they will likely need support too). Many of the tactics in the book are regarding art and drawing out your fears ... Read More
