Osteopathy and other systems of manual medicine have developed a variety of models for understanding the mechanics of proper and improper motion of the musculoskeletal system. The central premise of Visceral Manipulation is that the interrelationship of structure and function among the internal organs is at least as strong as that among the constituents of the musculoskeletal system; and that, like the musculoskeletal system, manipulation of the viscera can be beneficially used in the treatment of a wide variety of problems affecting any of the bodys systems. In this revised edition, over a hundred-and-thirty new illustrations and photographs, many of them in two colors, graphically depict the ideas in the text. Minor updates have also been made to the original text.

This already excellent text has been significantly updated with more direct explanations, greatly improved illustrations, and a more complete, better organized text. All this creates much greater specific clinical applicability. Even if you own the first edition, this is a book well worth your while to buy again!
Rating: - An OT's perspective
This text is a must have, must read for any clinician practicing in the area of pelvic floor disorders including pain and incontinence. Easy to understand with good diagrams/photos to help learn techniques. A prerequesite to Visceral Manipulation II or Urogenital Manipulation. A practical text to have handy in any clinical setting.
