Editorial Review:
More than 30 years after it was first diagnosed, Lyme disease remains one of our most misunderstood illnesses. This frequently misdiagnosed infection is spreading at an alarming rate and, if not treated early, can cause debilitating symptoms. More than 1.7 million people in the United States, and others in Europe and Asia, currently have Lyme and are unaware or can't find the right treatment. Finally, Beating Lyme offers those who struggle with it the guidance to get the help they need. A respected health author and educator, Constance Bean is an authority on this elusive illness. In 1993 she was diagnosed with Lyme and has spent the past 14 years, along with Dr. Sam Donta, researching its treatments and diagnoses. In Beating Lyme readers will find comforting, hard-won advice on such topics as:
what Lyme is and how to recognize the symptoms * what to do after a tick bite * how to protect family and friends * how to get the best treatment and what to do if insurance won't cover it * living with long-term Lyme disease. Compassionate and thoroughly researched, this is a book that will help doctors and patients understand and conquer this complex illness.

Rating: out of 5 stars - UNREADABLE. UNLESS TO PATIENTS. STALE HISTORY. MEDICALLY FLA

I was confused why the publisher used a font that is as small as the head of a pin. I needed quite a bit of effort to even read. I looked for information on co-infection, the hot button of modern care, and JUST ONE PAGE ON BABESIA. I thought Dr. Fein was supposed to be an Up to Date Lyme physician? Her last publication and major talks seem to generally be in the last century! And mostly on teeth and IV debates. If you are an advocate with great vision and want to read about all the wrong ... Rating: out of 5 stars - BETTER OPTIONS. USELESS ON CO-INFECTIONS. 1990'S MEDICINE
ONLY for activist historians. And done far better by Weintraub and others. This is what I learned after reading the microscopic print.

Connie has put it all on the table for us to read! There's no gloss or coverups! She tells it like it is and in todays highly political arena of Lyme Disease battles, we need many more Connie Beans......
In reading her book, I couldn't help but feel I was looking in a mirror of sorts as her many battles to be properly diagnosed so directed parrelled mine!!!
Bravo, Connie. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down. Thank you for your knowledge but more importantly for your truthfulness ... Read More
