If you really want to learn to speak this delightful language, this is the course for you. Admittedly, it can be dry (especially in the beginning) but if you stick with it you will be rewarded. I was surprised by how much I picked up and retained when I took the time to work through this course consistently and regularly. Supplement with video from Portuguese language websites to add some variety to your language study.

This U.S. designed Brazilian training course is mainly a conversation 600 page / 12 tape course. Ideal for someone with no previous foriegn language skills. It does not bog you down with grammer at the start. FSI Mastering Portuguese is a well organized presentation of basic information on the Portuguese language. It gives the user a more in depth understanding of the grammatical structures of the language than the Pimsleur tapes provide. However, I don't feel that this material works well by itself. I think that this material works best when the user has studied the Pimsleur Portuguese Tapes first and has some knowledge of the basic elements of conversational Portuguese. This is an good product for those really trying to learn the language.
I have done "Pimsleur" and also a class at a school.. This product give you the ability to study and work on Pronunciation and Grammer, which you will not get in "Pimsleur" and some other programs..
It will be hard for someone in Brazil to understand you if you don't pronounce the simpliest words correctly....
