The first Imperialism was something of sleeper hit among strategy buffs. The sequel, from SSI and developer Frog City, promises to be at least as successful as its predecessor. Though roughly similar to Civilization and other empire-building games, Imperialism II has a number of intricacies and idiosyncrasies all its own--which is why this Sybex guide is so helpful. I'm one of those people who buys every strategy guide for every game I have worth playing. The guide for Imperialism II is one of the very best I've read. It contains very helpful advice on sound strategies covering each aspect of the game and has a very helpful section outlining research options. Highly recommended.
