It is written by internationally recognized Harvard Medical School faculty and select medical students, and is the best text to bridge basic physiology with clinical care of patients. This edition provides updated coverage of pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, pathophysiology of acute coronary syndromes, mechanisms of heart failure, molecular mechanisms of dysrhythmias, the genomic basis of cardiomyopathies and congenital heart disease, and pharmacology. Numerous new illustrations are included. A companion Website on thePoint will include animations and audio heart sounds.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - If you are a medical student, you need this!
This book does not waste any words, and yet it still manages to explain cardiac pathophysiology in a completely understandable and accessible way. I struggled with cardio initially, but this book really helped put everything into context. I think the fact that it was written mostly by students helps to make it concise, relevant, and readable.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Pathophysiology of Heart Diseases is a MUST for all medical students!
Pathophysiology of Heart Diseases by Lilly is an excellent book and one that all medical students should have in their possession. This book breaks down all aspects of the heart in a simple yet detailed manner. The topics are well organized and are connected to each other. I purchased this book for less than $10 on Amazon, and the sender did an excellent job in sending it to me in a timely manner. Additionally, the sender's description of the book was 100% accurate. This book is such a smart ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Book for Cardiology
This book is #1 on my Top 10 List of All-time Best Medical Texts. I first read this book as an undergraduate during the summer after anatomy and physiology. I might have understood about 5% of it since my medical vocabulary was limited, but I was able to read it because of the clarity of its prose. I read it again in PA school and fell in love with it because it explains the 'how' and the 'why' underlying cardiac physiology and pathophysiology. Most texts I read simply state the facts and do not explain ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent resource for MS-II
This is a well written text, which can be read - and more importantly, understood - in a couple of days.

The text does a nice job of reviewing the physiology of the heart, in the context of each disease process. It repeats important points of the physiology throughout each chapter, such that you've got a generally good understanding of the reading by the time you finish the book. Lilly also provides enough pathology and treatment content to give a full picture of each disease. It does not, however, ... Read More
