I'm a new Rn (13 months) working on the L&D unit at a large teaching hospital in Orlando, FL and I've been researching maternity nursing software for a new smartphone/PDA that I plan to purchase. The search lead me to the Skyscape website and this Johns Hopkins manual. Skyscape allows you to download a trial form of the software onto your pc so that you can view the product before buying. A good book for your rotations
This is a compact book following the same formula for the other manuals from this collection (Ex Washington manual). It is not a treatise and it is not intended to be so, quite the contrary. It is a pocket book, easy to carry and to manipulate. It cover all the topics you might need for your day to day life in the hospital in a short , but not too short, and up to date format. an utter waste of time (and EXPENSIVE)
Do NOT buy the PDA version of this classic manual. The manufacturer shipped me a mismarked (wrong Operating System) shrink-wrap package with a warning that opening it would disallow a refund. The correct product had been mailed despite the mislabeling, but the convoluted registration process was time-consuming and produced an INVALID activation code. The purported SmartPatch fix also failed. Now, 6 days after paying for the product, it still doesn't work and the short East-coast technical support hours ...
