This textbook serves as the introductory text to most physicians working in aerospace medicine worldwide and is edited by one of the legends in the field (most of us simply refer to the book as "DeHart"). It is clear to read, easy to understand, and provides a historical background as well for the field of aerospace medicine. This textbook is largely considered the authority in Aerospace Medicine in the United States. If one wants to become familiar with Aerospace Medicine, they must read this text. It moves from history to the many aspects of medicine, which effect the aviator. It is fairly well written, and up-to-date.
