Rating: - Good stuff, but a lot of filler
It's basically about considering service - either to mankind or to customers - as your life's work. I didn't really get lots from this - it basically read like a magazine article or short speech padded out into a few more pages.
Would probably work for your typical corporate hour long training session, but I kind of felt it was wasted time for me.

"The Fred Factor" by Mark Sanborn, © 2004
This is an incredible book. The person, Fred, is just a wonderful person anyone would like to be with. I wish I could be like him, but, you know, I am not. I am me, not him. Try as I might, I just turn out to be me, not him. But the effort of trying to be a better person is what makes my life fulfilling. That is the real joy of this book. No one else can be 'Fred', but we can all still try our darnedest. It is inspirational ... Read More
Rating: - We should all be "Freds"!!
Freds rule!
"Fred" is likely not a sought-after name these days, but motivational speaker Mark Sanborn gives the name iconic status in "The Fred Factor." Seems that his Denver postman, named Freed, was constantly going above and beyond his assigned job duties to help his customers and make their lives easier.
Sanborn's point is that, if a "mere" postal worker can take such steps to transform his job into a shining example of customer service, just think of what we can each do ... Read More
Rating: - Simple story-- good motivator to pass on to employees
I thought this book was great. Yes, it was 100% predictable, but it was a feel-good story that I can imagine might motivate employees, and is a step in kind of a different direction than "Who Stole My Cheese"
Buy up a lot of them and give them to your employees, or even anyone who needs a pick me up!
Rating: - You'll be inspired to be like Fred
Imagine having a postal carrier who greets you the very first day
you move into a new neighborhood. He then offers to hold onto
your mail if you're going to be out of town. He also moves
advertisements that are stuck in doors and picks up newspapers
scattered on sidewalks.
That's Fred, author Mark Sanborn's mail carrier. Sanborn was so
impressed with him that he wrote a marvelous little book telling
more about him: THE FRED FACTOR. Its subtitle--HOW PASSION ... Read More
