Armed with the love of the priest’s daughter and a noble purpose, Packer stows away on the ship Trophy Chase bound for sea. But many tests of his faith and his resolve follow. Will belief and vision be enough for the young man to survive? The Legend of the Firefish was a great book. When I pick up Christian fiction, I expect it to be a good story--just as this one was.
The plot was good, and most of the characters were interesting (such as Talon and Scat), but I found a few things annoying with the story.
The novel took me forever to get through, simply because it didn't hold my interest. I think the whole time frame that the characters went through was only about two weeks, meaning that the author had to trudge ... Read More

Apparently, most of the reviews of "Firefish" were written by Christian fantasy fans... "Yes! Finally a thoughtful book with the Saviour's message woven throughout!" I'm new this genre, but open to any good fantasy story. Unfortunately, for this book, the sum of the parts is less than the parts themselves.
To be sure, the characters are vivid and the writing compelling, but I started to wince after a while when Polivka drifted into dreamy Christian musings. I suppose if you think in these ... Read More

Meanwhile, the girl he loves and left back at home, refuses to stay behind. Panna leaves her home to find Packer and gets caught up in adventures of her own. Sword fighting, carnivorous fish and angry pirates all ... Read More

He seeks to answer the question common to man: what is his purpose in life? And he decides that the hunt for the magical Firefish will answer his question ... Read More
