Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: out of 5 stars - Great for beginner cooks
Even though I'm not a beginner cook I love this book! The recipes are easy to follow and there are alot of pictures. I haven't made one thing I didn't absolutely fall in love with. It's great for beginners since it has all the basics, how to fry an egg, how to make grilled cheese, those kind of things. I've gotten this as a gift for a couple people that want to be better cooks and they love it!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Great Cook Book
I purchased this for my wife, after she had taken it out of the library and sampled it. She loves this book, and uses it all the time. I have found her referencing it constantly, and I have also found the recipes and information intuitive and easy to follow. Great cook book!

Rating: out of 5 stars - A favorite
I have always been a big fan of Better Homes & Garden cook books. This one does not disappoint either. It has new recipies along with some of the old ones. This was another gift for my wife. She loves her cook book and uses it every chance she gets. I do enjoy most of the food that she makes from using this cook book. A superb job in the choice of foods.

Rating: out of 5 stars - A great first cookbook that you keep forever
Like so many of the other reviewers, this was the cookbook I started my adult life with. I have the 1976 version and it is as useful now as it was then. This cookbook is perfect for the amateur cook because it is written in easy to understand language with good illustrations. Compared to Joy of Cooking, which I also use and love, this one is better for the new cook.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Not What I Thought
I was excited to get my cookbook today. I remember my mother's Better Homes & Gardens cookbook and this was going to be my first one. So I was very surprised to find a teeny tiny sized cookbook in the box. I have read the description again and the picture looks like a regular,full-sized cookbook, and it says that there are many pictures but this is not the one described so buyer beware. I am excited to try some of these recipes but wish that I had the full sized one.
