Editorial Review: Renowned hip-hop artist, writer, and activist Sister Souljah brings the streets of New York to life in a powerful and utterly unforgettable first novel. I came busting into the world during one of New York's worst snowstorms, so my mother named me Winter. Ghetto-born, Winter is the young, wealthy daughter of a prominent Brooklyn drug-dealing family. Quick-witted, sexy, and business-minded, she knows and loves the streets like the curves of her own body. But when a cold Winter wind blows her life in a direction she doesn't want to go, her street smarts and seductive skills are put to the test of a lifetime. Unwilling to lose, this ghetto girl will do anything to stay on top. The Coldest Winter Ever marks the debut of a gifted storyteller. You will never forget this Winter's tale.

Rating: - A Pathetic Train Wreck
Where do I begin with this garbage masquerading as literature? I'll first start out by saying that it was so successful because rapper "sister Souljah" relied on the fact that her audience would mainly be a very young and/or undereducated and unprivileged one (the same group that thinks "Gangster" Rap is high art) which she could easily manipulate and dupe. This is one of those "Crime doesn't pay" stories, in which the vast majority of its space is spent glorifying violence, corruption, and wanton ... Read More
Rating: - this book got me back to reading
when i started this book i have never read a book out side of a school assignment.i read the book in like 2 days i didn't sleep. i lived a smiler kind of life so i could relate to it very well.when i was finished with this book i wanted to pick it up and read it again. i think everyone should read this book and understand that this kind of stuff is really out there and being a person who actually had a smiler life to winters i can tell you that getting out and asking for help is not as easy as people ... Rating: - Great gritty story about life in the hood
This is an excellent read. Well written, you actually feel for the characters. I think after this book was published many of the "urban" novels started popping up trying to tell the story of life in the hood. This is actually good though. Talks of it being made into a screen play with Jada Pinkett Smith involved.
Rating: - Cant wait for part 2

Rating: - The Coldest Winter Ever-Pure Captavating!
I just finished the coldest winter ever, and i must say that it was one of the most captivating books I've read in a long while. i couldn't put it down til i was finished taking only short breaks to snack. i had to find out what was going to happen next and how Winter was going to get out the predicament that she was in. The end of the book however was slightly disappointing i wanted more, i wanted there to be happiness, the fairy tale happy ending. Although all the loose ends were tied up i felt as if there ...
