Rating: - Definitely Different
From the beginning it's obvious that "Second Chances" is a far cry from the chick lit we all know and love. That being said, I still enjoyed this book. True, it wasn't what I was expecting. It is full of serious topics such as death, alcoholism and infertility. But it's still a well written book. Jane Green is a talented author and this crossing on genres worked well for her. I'm praying that the next book is bubbly and chick lit-y though. I'd recommend this.
Rating: - Fell in love with the characters... hated the ending
I've only read one other Jane Green book (Jemima J) and this one was quit different. Not that I should compare them I guess.
I would have rated this 4 stars if the ending hadn't been absolutely dreadful.
The book follows the lives of 4 friends that reunite after about 20 years because of a horrible tragedy. You fall in love with these characters.... although there is a bit of redundancy while describing certain people.
The book has wonderful humor, and realistic and heartwarming ... Read More
Rating: - Older than her other books
I really enjoy Jane Green and I thought this book was a little old for me. I am 24 and I love her other books.
Rating: - Waste of Time!
This book is utterly moronic. I can't remember the last time I couldn't get through a book, but I gave up on this one at the midpoint. Wish I had read the reviews before buying!
Rating: - Bummer
Like some of the other reviewers here I was completely disappointed with Jane Green's recent book. I felt like I was reading something written by a completely different author - where was all of her usual wit and charm?? I felt like a few things happened in the beginning and in the end, but the rest was so slow and boring. We know Holly is unhappy and she knows exactly WHY she's unhappy so it's just plain frustrating that we hear all about why Marcus is horrible for her (and just horrible in general) ... Read More
