Rating: - Laugh out loud funny
I first read this in college, and to this day it still causes me to grin.
This should appeal to you if you like fantasy and you like humor. Enjoying puns is also helpful.
Skeeve and his adventures and friends are well worth the effort.
Rating: - "He was the nearest thing to an ally I had in a situation where I was clearly outclassed"
I was lucky to find this series recommended on a website and to decide to give it a try. To tell you the truth, I was expecting some light reading and not much else, but instead I found a nice story with a considerable amount of really fine humor. I have been a fan of Terry Pratchett and his Discworld series for quite some time, and I think that Asprin's work can be best described as a simplified version of the one by Pratchett. The writing here reminds me of those old Looney Tunes cartoons: funny antics aplenty for the younger set, but with those underlying more-adult themes to solidly entertain the parents.
I originally read the first few Myth books nearly 20 years ago and lost track ... Read More
Rating: - A quick, easy and fun read
This is my second time reading Another Fine Myth and it was just as good as the first time. I still laughed, but not quite as much. However, I did notice more of the humor this time around.
The Myth series is a breathe of fresh air in the fantasy genre, even if it is over 20 years old. Asprin writes witty dialogue with a cast of characters you can't help but feel a part of.
Skeeve is an apprentice magician and his master is murdered. Aahz is a magician from another dimension ... Read More
