This author has some good insights contained in the Author's Notes at the beginning of each nursing diagnosis. In her Notes she explains the differences between diagnoses that seem almost identical. But you can get the same insights in her smaller, more concise Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis, without the expense and inconvenience of the full-blown, padded-out version. Bought this book as it was 'required' for nursing courses. I suspect this is the only reason this book is ever even purchased, because it IS NOT HELPFUL! Never seen such a convoluted resource, this was the WORST. IMO, Carpenito is obviously riding on her laurels from past publications. If you are a beginning nursing student that is attempting to make heads or tails of care planning, save yourself the agony now. THUMBS DOWN!

I bought this book thinking it would be a bigger and better version of the spiral bound Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis. It really isn't! I feel that this book is hard to navigate through and never use it! I paid 45ish dollars for this book and think it was a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY. I do, on the other hand, LOVE the SPIRAL BOUND HANDBOOK OF NURSING DIAGNOSIS by the same author Carpenito-Moyet.
