Editorial Review:Based on Dr. Rapini’s popular Atlas of Dermatopathology, this practical resource delivers expert guidance on the evaluation and diagnosis of skin biopsies. It lists the important clinical and histological features and variations for common and unusual diseases, highlights their most characteristic features, and provides list of differential diagnosis for clinical and pathologic changes. A user-friendly format—combined with a wealth of full-color illustrations and extensive cross referencing—make this the ideal bench side companion for quick reference and more accurate diagnoses. And, a bonus CD-ROM provides all of the book’s images for use in PowerPoint®. * Presents over 700 full-color illustrations—with leader lines pointing out key pathologic findings—that depict a wide range of conditions. * Provides differential diagnosis lists of clinical and pathologic findings. Clinical lists are based on location, symptoms, duration, arrangement, morphology, and color. Pathologic lists include major categories such as epidermal changes, dermal changes, and cell types. * Features extensive cross-referencing of differential diagnosis lists by finding and disease, enabling readers to locate information quickly. * Includes a bonus CD-ROM featuring all of the book’s images for use in PowerPoint®.

Simple and with few things to say: it has good quality photos, well sumarized textbook and the list of differential diagnosis is also of great utility.
I like it, cause it did not exclude the importance of the clinical correlation for a correct diagnosis.
But attention: it is a book for a simple consult, not for long and detailed studies.

This book is a life-saver in a day to day sign-out. Well organized with a good differential diagnosis.
I usually use it as a companion to Weedon.

Rapini has incredible skill at distilling the complex and convoluted world of dermpath into this succinct yet thorough book. Not only is it an outstanding introduction to dermpath for pathology and dermatology residents and fellows, but it is an excellent reference to use when attempting to piece together various morphologic features that do not instantly form a recognizable pattern. The differential diagnoses listed at the front of the book make this a great book to keep beside the scope. I agree ... Read More

This is the first derm book I go to when I have a challenging rash. In the inside front cover I have a copy of Ackerman's algorithms which I also frequently use.
The best thing about this book is it's practicality. You see a feature on the glass slide (e.g. neutrophilic spongiosis) and then you go to the first chapter which lists all the conditions associated with neutrophilic spongiosis. Each entry in this list is indexed to a discussion of the disease elsewhere in the book (see ... Read More

This is a must for every dermpath resident, general pathologist and even dermatologist. Easy to carry on, has the most relevant info for the most common skin conditions. It has a different, very intuitive approach to evaluate a biopsy, not only guided by patterns, but also with the clinical features, which are critical to a well oriented diagnosis.
It may look thin, but I can assure you that it will be your first reference book!.
