Organic or regular baby food? White or wheat bread? Yogurt or ice cream? Parents often wonder how best to feed their families, but the wondering is over with The Family Nutrition Book: Everything You Need to Know About Feeding Your Children--From Birth Through Adolescence. The beloved William Sears and his wife, Martha (a nurse), teach you how to become your own family nutritionist. Parents of eight children and well-known authors of more than a dozen childcare books, the Searses offer the solid advice on breastfeeding, beginning solids, and feeding picky eaters you'd expect. But more than that, they provide a crash course in overall nutrition. You'll learn how the body works, how to read food labels, what ingredients to look for (and which to avoid), how to trim fat from your diet, what makes up a balanced diet (not just the "food pyramid"), which foods are thought to prevent cancer, and more. The Searses also offer helpful food lists: good fats, best proteins, top 10 complex carbohydrates, and top 12 family foods, to name a few. You'll even get favorite Sears family recipes to help you get started on the road to healthy eating. It's all here, and it's all mixed with a healthy dose of passion for eating well. So you can show your children--by example--how to stay healthy and feel great. --Kelley Smith

Rating: out of 5 stars - FANTASTIC!!!
Super informative and he writes so you can truly understand what he is saying. I find it encouraging too. :)

Rating: out of 5 stars - Best Book Ever
I'm a big reader and this is BY FAR the best book I have read ever!! There's a lot of information in it so get your highlighter out and highlight top points to help remember. There is so much information about becoming more nutritious but Sears simplifies it in a way that you will completely understand. He teaches you how to read lables and shows you how the market tries to trick you with their nutritional labels on the product. I actually got angry with the market a few times because I thought ... This is an excellent nutritional reference for the entire family.
From infants through over weight adults- this book has clear, easy to understand information for everyone. Chapters include basic nutrition, feeding children and even dieting. Highly recommended.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Excellent reading on good nutrition.
I really enjoyed reading through this book. It gives extensive nutritional information for the whole family. Since reading this book, I have made several changes to my family's diet.

Rating: out of 5 stars - interesting to read
it keeps you interested so it's easy to read, a lot of practical tips along (how to low colesterol, how to increase iron, how to read lables and more), devided to chapters in a way that you can jump from one to another and not read in the original order, and like other books of his, positive.
the explenations are clear, but it gives you information beyond the basics. I love it.
